With warm weather finally upon us, a Gin Rickey was in order. Gin Rickeys were writer F. Scott Fitzgerald’s favorite. He is quoted as saying:
First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you.
We opted to make His & Her versions, and, yes, we added added sugar (sorry, Fitzgerald).
Gin Rickey
- 2-3 oz Hendricks dry gin
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- splash of Club soda
- add Strawberry puree (Vitamix a 1/4 cup strawberries)
Squeeze the lime juice into a shaker full of ice. Add the gin, sugar, soda and optional puree. Shake and pour into glass of choice – we used martini glasses. That’s it. You can use other liquors, adjusting the name accordingly.
